A number of our members renewed their biannual competencies during the first day of our latest training weekend, while new members took the opportunity to learn more about the operation of South East 4x4 Response and the role they will play within the organisation.
The weekend included a mixture of practical and classroom-based training. Practical activities included Traction Assistance exercises and throwing throw lines, while members also took part in training on Road Incident Management (RIM). Two of our responders, who are Police-trained RIM responders, successfully renewed their RIM competencies.
Classroom sessions covered the operation of our Kent-wide radio network, the use of digital radios and Airwaves, as well as updates on media, water awareness and self-deployment.
It was a couple of long but enjoyable days, with plenty of opportunities for members to develop their knowledge, refresh existing skills and learn new ones.
We were particularly pleased to see two new responders successfully complete the weekend. They were congratulated on passing their training and welcomed to the team with their new member welcome packs.
